An Easter Reflection…

Dear friends and supporters of RE:SOUL Youth Centre:

Next week we are launching our 3rd Annual Spring Fundraiser.  As we contemplated a theme this year, the question we kept coming back to was, WHY?

WHY another spring fundraiser?
WHY should people care about what we do?
WHY does RE:SOUL / YFC Milton exist?
WHY is the youth centre so important for our community?
WHY does any of this matter?

While we hope to provide many answers for you in the coming weeks, the biggest WHY is right before us this weekend.  It is all about the person of Jesus and the historical reality of his life, death and resurrection.  And this is not just the WHY of our organization.  This weekend is the WHY for all creation!

Here is the incredible thing:

While Jesus is the WHY for all humanity, we are the WHY to Him.  While Jesus is the centre of this weekend, YOU are the reason for this weekend.
In perhaps the most quoted passage of scripture, John writes:  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  But then he continues:  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

As we reflect this weekend on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, we remember that he is the WHY for all that we are and all that we do.  The one who spoke creation into being is the one who gave up his life for YOU.

His heart for YOU is LOVE and His desire for YOU is LIFE.  This is the WHY of Easter Weekend.

On behalf of all of us at RE:SOUL Youth Centre & YFC Milton, we’d like to wish you a meaning-filled and wonder-filled Easter Weekend.

2 Corinthians 5.14-21:

Christ’s love compels us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!  This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”  For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin,so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
